Your Government At Work ...

You will love this one, I haven't stopped laughing yet.....
For those of you who have never traveled to the west,
or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails
placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the
roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways),
to prevent cattle from crossing over that area. For some
reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably
because they fear getting their feet caught between
the rails.

A few months ago, President Obama received and was
reading a report that there were over 100,000 cattle
guards in Colorado . Colorado ranchers had protested
his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered
the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the
"cattle guards" immediately!!

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and
presumably try to straighten him out, Vice-President
Joe Biden intervened with a request that… before any
"cattle guards" were fired, they be given
six months of retraining.

You can't fix stupid !

  1. That's funny and pretty stupid. We even have these things in the "not so Wild West" UK ..... I guess your president is a confirmed townie.

The thing that struck me about the photo is that there appears to be no fence ..... don't the cattle just walk around the guards?

  2. Lady, I looked at that before and couldn't see it either. Maybe it's a photographer thing, details omitted for clarity.

  3. Stupid as a box of rocks.

Dumb as a bag of hammers.

Couldn't pour sand out of a boot that has the directions on the heel.

  4. I read this to Mr. Supi. He had coffee seeping through his lips when I read O demanded higher unemployment for cattle guards. Mr. Supi thought Odie was done. I read to him Biden's idea of retraining the cattle guards. Mr. Supi had hot coffee seeping through lips and nose.

  7. Hi Odie! THis is hilarious.
I would rather one of those cows was president, the cow would be smarter, and smell better.

  10. Supi, coffee can be a dangerous thing here at Woodsterman. We've decided to chip in and hire Mr. Supi a "Coffee Guard".

  12. TWP, I can picture a whole lot of airport security people being hired as cattle guards before this is all over.

  15. Note to my readers: After staring at this photo for what seems like hours, I would have to say the comment from Lady is correct. There is no fence leaving the "Cattle Guard". I have, after further staring, came to the conclusion as to why this is.

Look closely at the near fence post. The yellow sign is one we see in my area all the time. This is a United States Forest Service Boundary sign. Need I say more about why there is no fence? The "Cattle Guards" assumed the cattle could read the sign and not go around. Thank you Lady

  16. I call it the Biden effect. Everyone around him goes mind numb. Look at all the (sometimes fatal) accidents that have surrounded him Most recently Air Force 2 blew over a small plane with the jet wash.

Put it here ... I can't wait to read it. I have the Captcha turned OFF but blogger insists it be there. You should be able to bypass it.
