Interesting Statistics
There are actually two messages here. The first is very interesting, but the
second is absolutely astounding -- and explains a lot.
A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting
statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health
Organization.
Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after
diagnosis:
U.S. 65%
England 46%
Canada 42%
Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received treatment within
six months:
U.S. 93%
England 15%
Canada 43%
Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six
months:
U.S. 90%
England 15%
Canada 43%
Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month:
U.S. 77%
England 40%
Canada 43%
Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people:
U.S. 71
England 14
Canada 18
Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say
they are in "excellent health":
U.S. 12%
England 2%
Canada 6%
And now for the last statistic:
National Health Insurance?
U.S. NO
England YES
Canada YES
Check this last set of statistics!!
The percentage of each past president's cabinet who
had worked in the private business sector prior to their
appointment to the cabinet. You know what the private
business sector is -- real-life business, not a government
job. Here are the percentages.
T. Roosevelt.................... 38%
Taft................................ 40%
Wilson ........................... 52%
Harding.......................... 49%
Coolidge........................ 48%
Hoover........................... 42%
F. Roosevelt................... 50%
Truman.......................... 50%
Eisenhower.................... 57%
Kennedy........................ 30%
Johnson........................ 47%
Nixon............................. 53%
Ford.............................. 42%
Carter............................ 32%
Reagan.......................... 56%
GH Bush........................ 51%
Clinton .......................... 39%
GW Bush....................... 55%
Obama............................ 8%
This helps explain the incompetence of this administration:
only 8% of them have ever worked in private business!
That's right! Only eight percent---the least, by far, of the last 19
presidents! And these people are trying to tell our big corporations how to
run their business?
How can the president of a major nation and society, the one with the most
successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business
when he's never worked for one? Or about jobs when he has never really had
one? And when it's the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest
advisers? They've spent most of their time in academia, government and/or
non-profit jobs or as "community organizers."
Pass this on because we'll NEVER see these facts in the main stream media.
Thanks David !

Put it here ... I can't wait to read it. I have the Captcha turned OFF but blogger insists it be there. You should be able to bypass it.

Numbers are stubborn things you just cannot argue against.
ReplyDeleteThis is not in the least bit surprising. Most academics are those people who could not make it in the private sector. As you may know I taught school for a few years right out of college, but then found the money to be much better in the private sector----the work however was harder and the paycheck never assured as I worked on commission for many years. That said, I respect a good teacher, but there are far too few of them.
ReplyDeleteAdmiral, except there's one in Washington that would argue that point with you.
ReplyDeleteRon, teachers are great indoctrinators because they were themselves indoctrinated.
ReplyDeleteFALSE.
ReplyDeleteWhile I dislike Obama and his minions, this statistic about his cabinet is incorrect. The author of the study that made that conclusion, Michael Cembalest, later said his statistics were flawed and that, "This is the one time I stepped out into making judgment calls, and I assure you I won't do it again."
Glen Beck repeated the acknowledged erroneous study, a failure that sadly underlines Beck's already tarnished status.
While I strongly oppose Obama, it is vital we stick to reality and provable facts. Repeating acknowledged-as-wrong statistics damages our credibility on all future statements.
I urge you to withdraw this blog entry. It is wrong and undermines the very effort you promote.
No matter what the numbers are, Obama Care is going to be a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteFunny how all the people who say we have to have nationalized health insurance because all those other countries have higher life expectancy (an easily manipulated stat, btw) never quote those other stats.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, knowing what the Hell you are doing and how things work beats theory every time.
Well done, sir. That should be a Romney ad.
PS The Canucks are doing their damnedest to get rid of their system.
Ed, I have an independent mind and don't give a rat's A$$ what you think.
ReplyDeleteBrooke, you get it.
ReplyDeleteEdutcher, I'm here for fun. Stats, stats, stats can be twisted to make any Ed unhappy. I'm doing my art show today and commenting during slow periods. I hope I don't make too many comments on this iPhone.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great stats, Odie!
ReplyDeleteI have one, Percentage of readers of Woodsterman readers who hate obummer's guts and wish he'd jump out of a plane without a parachute (and his mooching cow too)
100%!
Bunni, don't hold it in. Let it out girl.
ReplyDeleteOdie, I'm not trying to change your opinion. On the ontrary, I completely agree with you.
ReplyDeleteBut quoting a "fact" when its very author admits it is false puts everything you say into question.
But, as they say, my friend, it's your life, and this is your blog, and it's your reputation.
Enjoy the art show.
Ed, my reputation is one of a patriotic dirty old man. If a fact is stretched once in awhile it's not a big deal. Thanks for your concern. I'm mostly here for laughs.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Odie.
ReplyDeleteEngland's healthcare is scarier than all get out. Yikes. We're screwed.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about these numbers but I'm sure that Oblamer doesn't have a clue. Most of them don't. We need less attorneys and more economists in Washington D.C.
Have a terrific day. :)

Probably because the NHS "target" waiting list is 12-18m months.
The good news from England on teaching is that Acadamy high schools (about half of the total) will be able to hire talented individuals who have not got a teaching degree, ie not been through the self-serving rigmarol of teacher training the main purpose of which is to produce another generation of marxists more concerned with their own welfare than that of their pupils (or Students as we are now supposed to call them).
Mr. AOW read this yesterday (no comment from him, as usual) and sent me over here today to make sure that I saw this information.
ReplyDeleteGREAT post, Odie!
Thanks Opie!
ReplyDeleteSandee, I'll bet it's closer than we think.
ReplyDeleteBanned, so there is a future for Mother England after all.
ReplyDeleteAOW, thank you my lady.
ReplyDeleteSadly..."The optimist believes he is living in the best of times...The pessimist knows he is."
ReplyDeleteThe cynic in me says it will not get better.
Scott ... ouch!
