  1. The pencil lead is able to conduct electricity, it is made of carbon. In a weightless environment, pencil dust will drift into the electronic equipment, possibly causing electrical faults, dangerous in a space station environment. The lead particles are also flammable. more so in an oxygen rich environment. Pencil lead is, relatively , hazardous in a space capsule/station. Therefore the research for he ballpoint pen. The research does seem o be over-priced, however.

  2. Miker My Scientific Friend, never thought of that. I guess that's why I'm a woodworker / telephone guy. I still think it's funny. How about a sharpie?

  5. speaking of manure spreaders...there's a reason rednecks don't riot like antifa does. we don't need to. one tractor, one manure spreader, one pass gets the point across quite well.

  9. WDS, anyone that would believe a hoax and then blame us for it really isn't worth too much of our time.

  10. I've recently discovered this blog and I'm catching up on back posts. The story about NASA spending millions instead of using a pencil is mere leftist hogwash. Here's a bit of the true history behind the space pen.

    1. Country Boy, thanks for the education. I used to have "Link Around" tabs at the bottom of all posts so you could be zoomed to older posts, but that company refused to keep up with technology. I think I'll check in on them and see if their link is "https" now.

Put it here ... I can't wait to read it. I have the Captcha turned OFF but blogger insists it be there. You should be able to bypass it.
