SHERIFF EXAM IN WEST TEXAS

SHERIFF  EXAM …..

A young Texan grew up wanting to be a lawman.
He grew up big, 6' 2", strong as a longhorn, and fast as mustang. He could shoot a bottle cap tossed in the air at 40 paces.

When he finally came of age, he applied to where he had only

dreamed of working: the West Texas Sheriff's Department.

After a series of tests and interviews, the Chief Deputy

finally called him into his office for the young man's
last interview.

The Chief Deputy said, "You're a big strong kid and you

can really shoot.

So far your qualifications all look good, but we have, what you might
call, an "Attitude Suitability Test", that you must take before you can be
accepted. We just don't let anyone carry our badge, son."

Then, sliding a service pistol and a box of ammo across the desk, the Chief said,

"Take this pistol and go out and shoot: six illegal aliens,
six lawyers, six meth dealers, six Muslim extremists,
six Democrats, and a rabbit."

"Why the rabbit?" queried the applicant.

"You pass," said the Chief Deputy. "When can you start?"

 I LOVE TEXAS!!!!!

Thank You Dan ... OK, I know Walker is a Texas Ranger

  2. So true! I knew many, many high ranking detectives when I lived in Houston (eons ago.) That's exactly how they thought.

  14. Odie, if you are not careful, I am going to end up with more neighbors ;)

I guess you can say in Texas, tests don't require a No. 2 lead pencil, but an .45 lead or .357 lead "pencils"

  19. @ Madhat --

Yep, more new neighbors... again. We're drilling in Texas like during the Austin Chalk days back in the 80's. Roughnecks living outta their trucks or, if they're lucky, in gun barrel storage tanks converted into four man 'living spaces.' Rent for a shack in Odessa/Midland is more expensive than for a high-rise apartment in New York City.

Been in the oil business all my life. Boom or bust. Recently, a barrel was at $110; during the 80's I was praying for it to get up to $40. Like the saying goes (and we live by it,) "Lord, give me one more oil boom and I promise not to piss this one away!"

We always get new 'neighbors' when the times are good. The first sour well, though, they start drifting off.

We take VERY LITTLE federal money in Texas. But, we pay out the ass in federal taxes. When times are good, we live good. When times go south on us, we scratch out a living.

With what's happening in this United States, it looks like Texas is the place to be. A place to be free with open spaces and a good place to raise a family WITHOUT all the federal bureaucracy.

All that said... "WELCOME, NEIGHBOR!" Just remember one thing: When times go south on us, we scratch out a living.
