Woodsterman Gets a Call from Santa ~ Part 2 ~ by Skip

With a little bit of Santa’s magic, the wood from a single poplar tree was transformed into Santa’s sleigh.

Woodsterman was determined to finish the sleigh in time. He worked on building the sleigh eight to ten hours a day and spent his evenings designing the parts he would build next. By milling 100% of the yellow and tulip poplar needed for the sleigh on his Wood-Mizer LT40 Hydraulic portable sawmill.

Woodsterman considers his sleigh the culmination of more than 60 years of woodworking and the best project he has ever undertaken. His Wood-Mizer sawmill allowed him to work with high grade material that he never could have purchased at a lumberyard and gave him flexibility in the sizing of his material. As Woodsterman says “The combination of being a woodworker, a Santa Claus, and owning a Wood-Mizer sawmill allows you to be able to build anything you can imagine!”

Until next time ~ Thanks Skip!

  2. "Woodsterman was clearly on a sleigh schedule. Eight to ten hours a day? At this rate, he’ll be ready to deliver presents and defeat a few Grinches before Christmas Eve even rolls around. Who knew elves were this committed?"

  24. That is beautiful work, to be able to look at chunks of wood and take away the parts that don't belong to get what was in there. Classic, and thanks for sharing
