DeleteThe "Doctor" meme is absolutely true. I am an MD, and outside of the office I don't want to be called Doc, Doctor, etc. It's just my name. I have almost never seen a physicist who expected to be called "doctor". Even most dentists don't expect it. Give someone a fake degree, however, and they will insist that you use the title. DeleteA quibble. Most of those doctors of education, e.g. Bill Cosby, Jill Biden, don't have PhDs but EdDs. A PhD generally requires original study and research. A EdD, by comparison, requires that you show up.
