DeleteSorry, but walking away was/is a very good option. The men that did not want to be drafted (Viet Nam) just walked away to Canada, letting others take their place. Later, Jimmah Carter told them to come back home, all was forgiven. Now that they had finished their college degrees and gotten real world work experience, they were able to be hired into well paying jobs ahead of their lowly US veteran counterparts. So, yeah, the Democrats taught us all well.
