The World's Largest Army ...

The World's Largest Army.  America's Hunters?

The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting
season without someone getting killed. That's great.
There were over 600,000 hunters. Allow me to restate
that number. Over the last two months, the eighth largest
army in the world - more men under arms than Iran; more
than France and Germany combined - deployed to the
woods of a single American state to help keep the deer
menace at bay. But that pales in comparison to the 750,000
who are in the woods of Pennsylvania this week.
Michigan 's 700,000 hunters have now returned home. Toss
in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia , and it is literally
the case that the hunters of those four states alone would
comprise the largest army in the world. America will forever
be safe from foreign invasion of troops with that kind of
home-grown firepower.

Hunting - it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter
of national security!

Now you know why the liberal anti-gun groups want to
take our guns away. They are afraid of us.

  1. Yep, and it was hunters that help take back the Aleutians from Japan in WWII.

  2. And that's just four states listed here Trestin. The size of all 50 states in this army is incomprehensible.

  7. Great post Odie, simple yet with a very LARGE meaning!

Add to those numbers the legal owners and carriers of weapons that do not hunt and the army you speak of grows by leaps and bounds!

  11. Excellent article Odie. Gonna borrow it too. I was out there this year keeping the world safe from tasty Bambi and his evil cohorts.

    No sacrifice is too great.

  12. Thanks for posting this Odie. Here in The Great Canadiana we have what's called the Long Gun Registry that has created such a hassle for hunters (and cost BILLIONS of dollars) that the deer population is starting to get out of control. Nobody is hunting anymore and the population is becoming smaller due to lack of feed and more agressive because of it. There have been instances of deer attacking joggers and people out walking their dogs! How nuts is that?

  13. Are large numbers of hunters usually killed?

I am not a hunter, I couldn't do it, nor do I eat the meat from things like duck or dear.

So, I wouldn't know if this is normally an issue.

  14. Back in Victorian England the middle classes were often armed with revolvers. This was why our Police were traditionally unarmed because the call of their whistle would be sure to elicit the support of the passing public who would use their guns in the hue and cry.

Now though we have been disarmed as a result of a couple of Nutters shooting up schools and the like even though they were obviously unfit to be issued with gun licenses under the old regime and it has never been explained why they were.

Not that it stopped this guy

    Rauol Moat 2010

and a couple of similar incidents every year. Neither has it prevented criminals from being routinely armed in the sure and certain knowledge that their victims won't be.

  15. In all seriousness.

I don't think we are necessarily safe from foreign invasion, it's just that we will ultimately; by God, be victorious. The estimated 300 million firearms in the hands of the citezenry is what makes the difference.

  16. Deb, thanks for the visit. Libs everywhere are going to ruin this planet because of miss guided good intentions.

  17. Starsplash, before BO took office 2.5 million guns were sold each year in this country. In 2009 14 million guns were sold ... why do you think that is?

  18. Girl, the hunting isn't really the point here. The hunters of just 4 states would equal the largest army in the world. Imagine all 50 states ... invaders beware!

And gun control nuts back off!

  19. Starsplash, we can protect this country from its enemies, so anti-gun nuts please stop your nonsense.
