    That last one, "It is only a short trip..." presses me with more force with every passing year. The recent departure of Gerard Vanderleun really hit hard. His blog, "American Digest" will be up for two years and then per his wishes will also depart As he said, "Digital dust to digital dust".

    He was one of the finest writers that I've had the pleasure to read.
