The GREAT insight of Ludwig von Mises in this thoughts about economics was that, rather than simply try and reduce it all to formulas (most of which cannot stand up to the real world), he recognized the critical importance of HUMAN ACTION (also the title of his greatest work). Indeed, you can PRETEND that you have solved problems by passing laws, issuing threats, etc. but in the end, HUMANS WILL DO WHAT IS IN THEIR BEST INTEREST. PERIOD. Socialists/Communists/Liberals/Progressives simply do NOT get that one bit (nor do those who think you can legislate morality, etc.).
