When Dashauna Priest was just 9 years old, she wrote a heartfelt letter to WWII veteran Frank Grasberger as part of a class project. In her letter, she thanked him for his service and drew a helmet adorned with flowers and the American flag.
Frank cherished the letter for 12 years, saying it meant the world to him. He even felt that it was a way of "protecting" Dashauna.
Although Frank wanted to meet her, he couldn’t track her down. That’s when Jill Pawloski, who worked with Frank, took matters into her own hands. She found Dashauna on social media and arranged an unforgettable surprise meeting. At 21, Dashauna received the message and it was even more meaningful because she had just read Frank’s letter again only two weeks before.
After 12 years, they finally met face-to-face. Dashauna, in her National Guard uniform, surprised Frank even more. Both were overcome with emotion as they hugged, and Frank said, “She’s like a third daughter to me.”
Dashauna’s simple act of kindness had a lasting impact on Frank’s life, and their reunion was a moment neither of them would ever forget.

James, Older story?
DeleteGreat story! Thanks for sharing it. The article does not mention what branch of the service the old guy was in. I'm guess that he was a "squid" on a boat.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I posted the entire thing, so I can't help you.
