WRT 1, that happened because Made In USA came to mean lemons, planned obsolesence, and undependable.
ReplyDeletePS Jackie Coogan showed what a little privation can do for you. In WWII, he pulled a DFC being the first to fly a glider in and out of combat in Burma (considering what junk our gliders were, no mean feat). He then went on to marry Betty Grable
