  1. Yes to Mrs Rambo, 5 gets you 10 Brandon created FLOCK and the Lefties loved it 5 years ago, no to the Speaker, and you probably need an Amendment for the last.

    1. Not what DJT wants. He just gave himself immunity from the IRS for life.
Meanwhile Trump himself is trading on stocks he pumps from the White House and his Truth Social account. Many of the CEOs of the companies Trump traded were on his plane to China last week.

  5. The Federal Government is completely corrupt, to its core, and there's no changing that.

  7. Re: part 2 of the last: After the 27th Amendment was ratified in 1992, Congress fixed it so they get pay raises automatically and have to vote against accepting a raise. The 27th was proposed in 1789; it says "No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened." Those "public servants" weaseled their way out of the amendment by 1997 and many of those weasels aren't in Congress any more.

    2. Not exactly true.
The 27th Amendment, prevents any pay adjustments from taking effect until an intervening election of Representatives has occurred. Meaning you will not see the increase unless you are reelected.

At the same time Congressional salaries are also supposed to increase automatically each year unless lawmakers specifically vote to block it. This is an automatic cost of living adjusted increase. the 27th Amendment kicks in if representatives decide they want to raise their salaries beyond the cost of living increase.

No congressional vote can override the constitution. Congress can't make a law removing your 1st amendment rights and they can't also make a law overriding the 27th amendment.

What they can do is vote whether they want to take the automatic cost of living increase. In reality, Congress has ACTIVELY voted to block these pay raises every single year since 2009. The base salary for rank-and-file members remains frozen at $174,000 per year.
They don't vote against the increase out of the kindness of their hearts. They do it because it is the politically convenient thing to do plus we all know that they don't make their money out of their salary.

The downside of keeping salaries frozen at 2009 levels is that it creates a bigger incentive for representatives to generate an "alternative" income source.

I would rather pay representatives a VERY good salary and bar them from ANY other source of income. If you choose to work for WE THE PEOPLE then you ONLY take the money we pay you and you only work for US and not for your favorite company, donor, etc

  8. I'd suggest that no sitting congressman or senator gets a pay raise, ever I agree with the Social Security COLA - 1%, but it should only take effect upon the next office holders. Also, no elected office should come with a retirement plan.

  9. Congress was never to become a full time occupation.
If present congressional members lost money (like our founding fathers did) maybe more people would seek office to benefit the nation. And not their income.
