Anyone who has been around Reciprocating Engine
Aircraft will all be able to spot the error right away.
This photo is absolutely incredible!
This photo is absolutely incredible!
It should be a poster for what not to do.
But can you tell what's wrong with it?

See the answer below the picture.
Yes, I imagine you spotted it, too.
Never, ever, try to prop-start an aircraft
Never, ever, try to prop-start an aircraft
without chocking the wheels first!
I expect that caught your eye right away, as it did mine....

Thanks Dan!
Pulling the prop the wrong direction?
ReplyDeleteYes, she's also pulling the prop from the wrong direction. Somebody needs a spanking.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure all you guys caught that error. Bwahahahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Odie. ☺
Funny the things you miss when you're not a pilot.
ReplyDeleteWhat Prop!!!
ReplyDeletethe aircraft is the prop in this picture!
ReplyDeleteChock the wheels on what aircraft? I didn't see any aircraft.
ReplyDeleteHand me down my flying helmet!
ReplyDeleteThe prop is being pulled in the proper direction for starting. Chocks would be a good idea, yes, also the ladys' left hand is in proper position on the propeller but the fingertips of her right hand catching the trailing edge of the prop are ""NOT!!" If you hook you finger tips on the trailing edge and the engine backfires when you pull it thru you are in for a very large wake up call!! Also it is customary to swing the inboard leg when pulling the prop down as this gets you going in the right direction, "Away!" from the prop so it won't catch the nipples of our ladys' bobbies!!! 'Hand propped a lot of planes, Cubs, Champs, T-Carts and the like. 'Had a dead battery on a Cessna 195(like the one in the photo) one time, we left the master switch on when we went to the Reno Air Races one year. Tryin to hand prop a "Shakey Jake" ain't happening. Ended up taking the battery over to a FBO and had it quick charged. That was in '86, pushin' 30 years ago now!!! Too much Fun!!!

''around the 10:31 mark "Sweet Sally" flies in and side docks (on "ME!") while waving at the cameraman!!!! BLUE SKIES, BUDDY!!!!
