Since you brought it up: why do most people still believe (my SIL is a good example) that the money the government takes , in the name of the SSA, goes into a little lockbox and is doled out to them piecemeal after they reach the age of 65, since, as everyone knows, we don't have the ability to invest/save ourselves - only Congresscritters can do this for us. First of all, there's no lockbox, it went into Congress' general funds. Second: for every dollar I put in back in 1958, the SSA now gives me the equivalent of $.03 in buying power. I apologize for the rant
boron, The way it was set up, it was a lock box. Had the SSA fund been kept private They could have been buying savings bonds with the fund and stayed solvent. Here's the kicker ... If you had been allowed to invest the 15% yourself, you'd be a multi millionaire.
Uncle Fester won the DFC for piloting a CG-4 glider as it was lifted out of the Burmese jungle by a C-47 behind enemy lines; he also married Betty Grable.
Put it here ... I can't wait to read it. I have the Captcha turned OFF but blogger insists it be there. You should be able to bypass it.
