Ponderings of a Laid Off Union Worker

John Smith started the day early having set his alarm  clock
(MADE IN JAPAN )
for 6 am.

 While his coffeepot
(MADE IN CHINA)

was perking, he shaved with his
electric razor
(MADE IN HONG KONG)

He put on a
dress shirt
(MADE IN SRI LANKA),

designer jeans
(MADE IN SINGAPORE)

and
tennis shoes
(MADE IN KOREA)

After cooking his breakfast in his new
electric skillet
(MADE IN INDIA)

he sat down with his
calculator
(MADE IN MEXICO)

to see how much he could spend today. After setting his
watch
(MADE IN TAIWAN )

to the radio
(MADE IN INDIA )

he got in his car
(MADE IN GERMANY )

filled it with GAS
(from Saudi Arabia )

and continued his search
for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging
and fruitless day checking his Computer
( made in MALAYSIA ),

John decided to relax for a while.
He put on his sandals
(MADE IN BRAZIL ),

poured himself a glass of wine
(MADE IN FRANCE )

and turned on his TV
(MADE IN INDONESIA ),

and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job
in AMERICA

AND NOW HE'S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM A PRESIDENT

Dear John,

If your union didn't support politicians that think businesses are evil and regulate and tax them accordingly, you and 15% of your fellow Americans would be working now !

  2. union workers deserve to be unemployed - and hey, I thought that union was supposed to be his job security -- oops
He couldn't be hurting so bad if he is driving a german car, unless it is 25 years old.

  3. Girl really, we produce some of the worlds greatest wines right here in California.

  4. Pierro, Oh let's call this a Wisconsin story. The Governor wants the union members to pay a little of their benefits so he doesn't have to lay anyone off. If the union wins, there are laid off union workers. To make it worse, the union doesn't care.

    Bonks

  6. UAW workers at my plant cannot see the irony of using imported Canadian steel to produce parts to be exported to Mexico for assembly, and yet most have the famous bumper sticker "Out of Work Yet? Keep Buying Foreign"

  7. Today I wished what I bought was made "Made in the USA".

  8. Manufacturing accounts for just 12% of the UK economy (halved in 20 years) and the unions no longer represent the working man (or woman) but rather cossetted office workers in the bloated public sector boosted by 900,000 more non-jobs created by our former socialist administration in a doomed attempt to remain in power (the same reason they ramped up immigration).

  9. Christopher, it's what happens when a bunch of followers band together.

Put it here ... I can't wait to read it. I have the Captcha turned OFF but blogger insists it be there. You should be able to bypass it.
