Getting Pretty Cold Back East ...

I just got off the phone with a friend in Minnesota .
He said that since early this morning the snow has
been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature
is dropping below zero and the north wind is increasing.
His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen
window all day.  He says that if it gets much worse,
he may have to let her in.

  2. Randy-g, right you are, but you have to keep em tied up so they don't chase the snowplows.

  3. Righty, That's part of the deal of getting back in.

  4. Adminal, aren't you from Florida? This may seem a little harsh to you, but trust me, she'll be better off when she has to fix the roof later. One has to get used to these things.

  5. Nice friend you have there!
I hope the wife finds a secret way in and buries the guy in the snow.

  7. I lived in Indiana my first 19 years. While not as cold as Minnesota it still was kinda cool.

    LOL.

Is it a violence issue or a chilling out issue?

  8. He better hope she doesn't find a way in.

  9. Well thats just cruel Odie! But Hilarious at the same time!

p.s., Considering your geographical position in the contiguous U.S. I understand the title "Back East" but technically it should read 'back in the Mid West',,just sayin'

  11. Stopsign, it could be as cold inside as it is outside if that happens.

I love your new avatar ... don't change a thing.

  12. Now Ladies ... Here in the western tundra it's just the opposite if it makes you feel any better. Woodsterman is outside during the storms cleaning up, and Woodsterwoman is inside on the couch watching TV and eating bon-bons.

  13. With mywife I usually just draw the blinds Odie, but then she starts to whine outside the front door. I let her in to cook supper.

  14. Odie, I had a feeling you would like this avatar better, But I'm wondering why I choose a stopsign?:)

  15. A woman drove me to drink, Odie --- and I never had the courtesy to thank her.

  16. I've always thought that women should be obscene and not heard.

  17. Stopsign, I'm wondering how you chose the name. Were you sitting at the computer when google asked for a name on the account? You looked across the street and there it was?

  18. Euripides, That is perfect ... you and I share that belief.

  19. Great punchline, wasn't expecting one.

While we didn't suffer the extremes that you did here in S/W England we had stuff that has not happened in living memory.
It snowed before Xmas for starters. Snow, if it happens at all is usually just glorified frost, this year it fell 8 inches flat luckily in the middle of four days of public holiday.

Previously snow melted away during the following day, this time it hung around for over a week turning into compacted ice and forcing pedestrians to walk on the highway.
I have lived here for twenty years, most years are frost free though sometimes it drifts below zero in the early hours. This year it went 12C below and stayed that way for four days.

The only things that made it bearable is that there was no wind (so no drifting) and the air was very dry which meant that it did not feel as cold as it was.

"Must be all that Global Warming!"

  20. Banned, it hasn't snowed here for a week. The temperature hasn't gone above freezing since then either. This morning it's 4 degrees F. It gets up to around 28 during the day. The driveway still has a patch of ice that just keeps getting shinier. I'm usually able to get rid of that ice by now .... Global Warming!

Put it here ... I can't wait to read it. I have the Captcha turned OFF but blogger insists it be there. You should be able to bypass it.
