Woodsterman Takes A Vacation ... Part 6

Yesterday was my day to scare the shit out of the little
woman. The best description I've ever heard about driving
a motorhome is it's like driving a billboard down the road.
The wind and rain were so bad yesterday that we had pieces
of trees flying at us. Also, needless to say, the "billboard"
didn't want to go where I pointed it. We made it, though, to
our next stop, Charleston, Oregon.

The rain stopped long enough to walk 100 yards to the beach.
Yes, it's that close, and a level walk too with no cliffs for a
change.

Last night it rained so hard we couldn't hear the sound on the
TV. We've never had that happen before. Also, today I need to
take a good look at the motorhome for damage from those
flying pieces of trees. After that it will be lots of beachcombing
time. The sun is out now, but for how long is anyone's guess.
As with all of these ... click to enlarge.
The photos are a megabit or bigger.
Let me know if you like that or not.
This is the little trail to the beach from our site.
This is what the trail opens up to. I'll do better
with the camera today. At low tide we can walk
out to that point.
This is the sight in the other direction.

Obama's Economy ....

(And you're asking, "How can he drive and
post at the same time?" Secret ... he does
everything well.)

Red Green and the Snow Blocker

It's time to celebrate the end of winter. That
is unless this is still the scene at your house
like it is at mine.

Woodsterman Takes A Vacation ... Part 5

This is our second day in Newport, Oregon. Yesterday, we went to the old town on the harbor. I forgot my camera, and then I forgot to ask the RV park office what the password was for the Wi-Fi ... DUH! I finally got my act together today. Thank goodness we're staying two days here.

Tonight we're going out to dinner to celebrate my Sue's
anniversary. Just kidding ... it's our 36th today. Can you
believe she's put up with me that long?

The photos below are of the harbor. The large bridge is the
one containing Highway 101. This is Yaquina Bay for the
river of the same name. There is also a haunted light house.
If you notice the seagulls on the pilings ... yes those are old
tires someone has put there for them.

Oh Those Walmart People Again .... #5

Don't worry everyone, I've already forwarded this pic over to Burberry. I figured it would be rewarding for them to see this and remind themselves why it was they got into the fashion and design business in the first place. I'm sure they will be ecstatic seeing their vision come to life.

I haven't seen her fist pump, but I bet her Jersey shore name is Cindy Lou Who.

I was wondering what Blossom was up to. Now if we can just find Joey Lawrence I can get some sleep at night.

Woodsterman Takes A Vacation ... Part 4

Tonight we're in Lincoln City. On the way today we stopped
in Tillamook to visit the great American Cheese Factory. I
have some pictures I took of the factory, but they were shot
through glass. They're not the greatest, but who cares ... We
have many pounds of cheese .... mmm mmm mmm !

Good Wi-Fi connection ... so here you are. Now I'll have
blog reading time tomorrow AM.
Tomorrow we go to Newport.

Woodsterman Takes A Vacation ... Part 3

Hi again, we finally made it to the coast. This we have
done for Sue since we bought our first motorhome in 1997.
She loves to comb the beaches looking for shells, and
it's my job to make her happy. I love the beach too. I
practically grew up at one in southern California. I was
one of those die-hard surfers for 20 years from age 13
to 33 when we moved to the mountains.

We are at a KOA across the road from a state park called
Fort Stevens. The park is where the Columbia River hits
the Pacific. We stay at the KOA for the hook-ups. Those
of you not knowing what that is, they are water, waste,
electric, cable TV, and now Wi-Fi. Some say, "That's not
camping." Damn straight it's not ... those days are over.

Below are photos of our 3.5 mile round trip walk to the
beach.

It just started raining and thank goodness for
motorhomes. We head south to Tillamook to see how
cheese is made. I hope this posts OK ... internet is kind
of slow here.
The paved "trail" to the beach.
The people of Oregon know how
to do it.
I lost my keys in there, could you help me find them?
Ah, the ocean, what this trip is about ...
An old ship wreak of the "Peter Iredale".
The "trail" back.
It won't be long for cocktails now ....
Don't forget to read "Wal-Mart".
