DeleteRepublicans keep bringing up Democrat opposition to the Civil Rights Act, but that law was atrocious. It was right and appropriate to end and abolish ALL government discrmination in hiring, building access, and everything that everyone is FORCED TO PAY FOR. But the Act also DESTROYED private property rights of millions of private businesses and we continue to suffer the ill effects today. Essentially the act made government the ultimate owner and controller of every private business in America.

DeleteI'm not denying WHY the democrats opposed the Act. I am simply saying that before so many jump on the bandwagon regarding THEIR opposition to the Act, one should look at what got passed and the long-term damage it has done to property rights in this country. Why republicans were NOT opposed to the Act for THOSE reasons is what really should be the question.
