Oddly enough I had a Flicker and a squirrel situation that looked just like that picture. A squirrel ran up the old locust tree in the back yard they other evening as I was walking by and disappeared. Out of curiosity I walked around the tree a couple of times to see where it went. As I came around the north side I spotted a hole in the tree and just then a Flicker came up to the hole and the squirrel came out. Apparently the squirrel was more afraid of the Flicker than of me.
Put it here ... I can't wait to read it. I have the Captcha turned OFF but blogger insists it be there. You should be able to bypass it.
