  1. What makes an A10 go BRRRRT? Tax dollars....LOTS of tax dollars. That ammo AIN'T cheap.

  3. The A10 might be vulnerable in some instances, but its value as a ground support aircraft cannot be overestimated and to retire it would be the epitome of stupid.

  4. The recipients of the projectiles from the A-10’s gatling gun never get to hear the brrrrt, The muzzle velocity is about 3300 ft/sec, about 3x the speed of sound. So the projectiles reach the recipients several seconds before the brrrrt does. They are dead before the sound reached them. The forward speed of the aircraft adds to the muzzle velocity, but a good average speed of the projectile to target is obtained by neglecting the aircraft’s forward speed.
