The problem is that dogs are unwilling to kill the cats in their lives that cause them grief. Humans/Christians seem to have the same problem with Islam.
Cats are weird animals, it is easy to see why people thought of them as familiars and shape-shifters. We had one when i was growing up that used to bring us mice and the occasional squirrel. Not always dead either
